My Sunday Song – “Do You Wanna Taste It” by Wig Wam

For My Sunday Song #454, we are talking the Season 1 theme song to Peacemaker…”Do You Wanna Taste It” by the Norwegian band Wig Wam. Imagine my surprise when I started watching Peacemaker on HBO and the theme song was this 2010 Wig Wam classic. I remember when this song came out and how much it grabbed hold of me and help solidify my fandom for Wig Wam. The song was the first single and was released on March 9, 2010. The album was ‘Non Stop Rock ‘n Roll and it was glam rock at its best.

The song was written by lead singer Age Sten Nilsen and Trond Holter and the song is basically about dreams of making it big. It is about leaving your dull, miserable life behind and going out and seek fame where you can live the best life with all its excesses. However, you have to remember what goes up, must come down. And living life to excess has its downfalls. It asks the questions, do you really want to taste that life because as quick as the fame comes, it will leave as fast and leave you a shell of your former self. Sometimes, a short cut to fame isn’t all it is cracked up to be.

Musically, the song is pure glam. Great guitar riffs, pounding drums and an energy that is contagious. It will suck you in and have you singing this song long after it is over. The chorus is one giant hook, gang vocals, catchy as hell and takes me back to the late 80’s when Glam was King!! How big could these guys have been if this album and song came out 20-25 year earlier. Now when I hear this song I can’t help but picture the entire Peacemaker cast dancing to this song in the opening title sequence. Crazy!!

Give the song a listen and let me know what you think. Does it take you back to the 80’s? If you like it, you need to check out more from Wig Wam as they won’t disappoint!! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a great and Happy Sunday!

And for fun…here is the Peacemaker opening sequence…

“Do Ya Wanna Taste It”

Do ya really wanna, do ya really wanna taste it?

Get it on, get it on top, make a move extreme
Make a pose, it’s a shortcut to your dreams
A float straight to the stars on that flying thing

Getting high, getting brave, getting snow blind
Game set to go! Pick a tune, chick harpoon in a world beyond
Get a beat, got a heat on a phony string
Tear your world apart, once the magic starts

Do ya really wanna, do ya really wanna taste it?
What’s going up must come down
Do ya really wanna, do ya really wanna taste it?
Baby, I’m losing ground

Blind to what you’ll soon become
The mirror lies, the whole world’s wrong but you
Dancing with your blinkers on
Throw your dog the invisible bone

Say I do, say I will, and put your jet in gear
Anything to get you out of here
Gotta go hit that ride to the setting sun

Pack it up, get ahead, I gotta leave this mess behind
Gotta cruise from the blues, got a life to find
What you need, there’s to read on the dotted line
Kill your self-control, welcome to the show

Do ya really wanna, do ya really wanna taste it?
What’s going up must come down
Do ya really wanna, do ya really wanna taste it?
Baby, I’m losing ground

Blind to what you’ll soon become
The mirror lies, the whole world’s wrong but you
Dancing with your blinkers on
Throw your dog the invisible bone

Poison to your mind
Devil in disguise

Do ya really wanna, do ya really wanna taste it?
What’s going up must come down
Do ya really wanna, do ya really wanna taste it?
Baby, I’m losing ground

Blind to what you’ll soon become
The mirror lies, the whole world’s wrong but you
Dancing with your blinkers on
Throw your dog the invisible bone

Do ya really wanna, do ya really wanna taste it?
What’s going up must come down
Do ya really wanna, do ya really wanna taste it?
Baby, I’m losing ground

Blind to what you’ll soon become
The mirror lies, the whole world’s wrong but you
Dancing with your blinkers on
Throw your dog the invisible bone

Top Albums of 2023!!

I can’t believe we are through with another year. And what a year it was, It saw me complete my goal of reviewing my massive Jeff Scott Soto Series with over 80 posts and 18 months of work. I was crazy to do it, but I loved every minute of it. I also started two more rather large and incredible series with Bon Jovi and Def Leppard which should take me through most of 2024. These might be the last two really Series I do as they are the last of my large band collections I have in my possession. All the other artist I have aren’t in such abundance like these were.

With the Soto, Def Leppard and Bon Jovi Series, I actually didn’t spend much time with new releases and if I’m being honest, this was a pretty piss poor year for rock albums that I grabbed me interest during the year. So, we are going to go through what I call the Top Albums of 2023, but I missed so much this isn’t a definitive list. This is only what I listened to in the year so take it with a grain of salt. Of course there will be some honorable mentions, a worst of album and maybe a best of re-issue/box set. I am not doing a Rock only list this year as I want to highlight anything I listened to this year that I thought was great. Sit back, grab a cup of coffee if it is morning, or a beer if it is any other time of day…and enjoy!!

MY FAVORITE ALBUMS OF 2023:

#10 – The Rolling Stones – ‘Hackney Diamonds’

Is this the best Rolling Stones album, no, not at all. But let’s be honest, how cool is it we got another Stones album. I think it is really cool. Producer, Andrew Watt, was on board to bring the band back to life. He made it modern, but still a Stones album. I liked his work with Ozzy and I like it here. You Still get Mick and Keith and the boys sounding like who they are so don’t fret. There is a bar room blues feel to it, but it also feels relevant for today. They have Lady Gaga on board and even Sir Paul McCartney. I found it it to be a fantastic listen and one of my favorites for the year. Way to go boys. I like “Angry”, “Sweet Sounds of Heaven”, “Bite My Head Off” and so many more. Check it out!!

February 2023 Purchases – Vinyl & CDs

We had another good month here at 2 Loud 2 Old Music and the collection keeps growing, both the vinyl and the CD collection as well as now even the cassette collection. I found some more stuff to add to the ever growing Kiss collection, the Needtobreathe collection, the Matt Nathanson collection and even the Ratt and Whitesnake collections.

First thing that came in was something that was bought months ago, but the vinyl had been delayed. It finally arrived and it is the new Matt Nathanson album ‘Boston Accent’ which now completes my vinyl collection for Matt…well until he releases something else of course…

Then I bought a bunch of things this month from the internet including some new releases as well as filling out my The Poodles collection, Eclipse, Wig Wam and H.E.A.T. The Wig Wam can be counted as new too along with The Winery Dogs…

Friday New Releases – February 10, 2023

The weeks keep coming and they seem to keep getting faster because I feel like I just did one of these, but that has been a whole 7 days ago. And we now have around 30 more fore you this week. There are a few I want to hear, but only one that I am actually going to get (right now). That one is Wig Wam as I have been a fan of theirs for years now and was so glad they got back together. A couple others worth noting are the new Paramore album and of course, another great Rolling Stones live album. All is good. Let me know what you want to hear this week and what we may have missed. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

The Top Albums of 2021

2021 was not quite as strange as 2020 as things started to get back to normal. I got out to see a couple concerts and back to digging in the record stores and even went in to the office a few times.  Covid pushed back a lot of albums in 2020 and they finally came out in 2021. Some were worth the wait and well, some weren’t.  But there were some great releases and I am sure I missed a number of great albums and if you look around the web, there will be tons of Top Album lists you can get a pretty good idea of what you should check out in case you missed any of these.

This year I am doing things a little different.  I am only doing one list post, but that list will be centered around my Favorite Rock Albums of the year.  At the end I’ll give you my Top 5 Non-Rock Albums of the year as I didn’t listen to a ton of new releases this year as I was focused so much on my Kiss, Judas Priest, Queen and now Cheap Trick & Aerosmith Series.  That took a lot of time.

Also note, these are MY FAVORITES!!  These are not the most popular or trendy albums.  You won’t find the cool trendy bands, because they are usually here today gone tomorrow.  These are the albums that I connected with during the year and I kept coming back to again and again.  And without further adieu, here are the Top Rock Albums of 2020:

THE TOP ROCK ALBUMS OF 2021:

#10 – Eclipse – ‘Wired’:

71-t49UrImL._SX522_ Eclipse is a melodic rock / glam rock /hard rock band out of Sweden and let me tell you Sweden knows how to pump out these bands. I think there are more rock bands in Sweden then there are people.  It is just a guess.  The two original guys, Erik Martensson and Magnus Henriksson. are back with their 9th album and they keep delivering.  Erik’s vocals are killer and Magnus can lay down some riffs.  The three opening tracks, “Roses On Your Grave”, “Dying Breed” and “Saturday Night (Hallelujah)” just suck you in and you know you are in good hands and just along for the ride at this point. Wig Wam – The Albums Ranked Worst to First

When I think of a country that rules in Glam Metal, my first thought goes to Norway!! Huh? WTF? Norway? Yes, you heard me correctly. Norway is home to the stellar Glam Metal band Wig Wam. The band members are Glam, Teeny, Flash and Sporty and no those aren’t the Spice Girls’ names. In reality, it is Age Sten Nilsen, Trond Holter, Bernt Jensen and Osytein Andersen. Yeah, the nicknames are easier to pronounce and remember.

The band’s first album came out back in 2004/2005 and showed the world that Glam metal was still alive and kicking. They represented Norway in the 2005 Eurovision contest and their song “In My Dreams” did really well. After that, they put out 4 albums and then they called it quit back in 2014. Then 5 years later, the band was back together. However, we didn’t finally get another album until 2021 and let me tell you, the boys are back!!!

I thought to myself, this is a band that needs to be heard so why not spread the love with an album ranking and since they only have 5 albums, it would be easy enough to do. So, grab a cold one and check out the Wig Wam Album Rankings from Worst to First!!

THE WORST – ‘WALL STREET’ (2012):

Friday New Releases – January 22, 2021

Finally!! A week where there is a ton of music I want to hear. There are over 20 releases that I felt were worth mentioning, but I am sure there are a bunch more that I don’t have so let me know in the comments what I may have missed that you think the people should know. Frontiers Records has a big release day with at least 6 releases which honestly I think is way too many for a record company to release on the same day. I don’t feel it is fair to your artist to spread the support so thin and definitely not to the fans who can’t afford to buy all those albums at one time. I personally think you should re-think that strategy. Enough of that talk, my choices are highlighted in Blue. Tell me what you want to hear this week. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!!

  • 81EYWOIiU4L._SX522_  W.E.T. – Retransmission – (Frontiers Records): Now here is a band I think everyone should listen to this week. It has the great Robert Sall (Work of Art), Erik Martensson (Eclipse) and Jeff Scott Soto (Talisman) bringing you the name W.E.T. This is the band’s fourth and I think they keep getting better. What I thought would be only 1 album, now has a pretty decent catalog. I am a huge fan of Soto’s voice and even Martensson has a great voice. This is melodic rock at its finest.
  • 510BzuU15xL  The Dead Daisies – Holy Ground – (Universal): I really enjoyed this band with John Corabi as lead singer, but he is no longer there. Now they have a new singer who is none other than the Voice of Rock, Glenn Hughes, who I love. I am eager to listen to this to see what they got with Glenn at the helm. This album was supposed to come out right around when Covid hit if I’m not mistaken so I am glad to finally dive in.

You Pick It! – Which Album to Review in February?

You, my reader, are going to pick an album for me to review each month.  It is really simple…first, I will give you 5 albums to choose from and second, you will tell me which one of those you would like to see reviewed on the site.  See…simple!

There are a few simple rules I have put in to place in my selections.  They are…

  • One has to be a new release (within the last month)
  • One has to be one I have never heard before (new releases don’t count for this one)
  • One has to be from a genre I don’t normally listen to at all or very often
  • And the last two are choices from my collection that I haven’t reviewed before

What are the 5 albums you ask?  Funny you should ask because I have those right here…

New Release – Wig Wam – ‘Never Say Die’ – Their back!!

Never Heard Before – The Velvet Underground – ‘The Velvet Underground & Nico’

Not My Normal Genre – Chris Stapleton ‘ Starting Over’

From My Collection – The Rolling Stones – ‘Tattoo You’

From My Collection – ZZ Top – ‘Eliminator’

Let me know which one you would like to see and sometime in February, I will post a review of the album that gets the most votes. You have one week to decide and from there I will start listening to the album and do a review.

Thanks for participating!!
