Happy Friday!! It is when there are new releases that I want and this has a few. Some I will buy and some I will stream, but it is new music and that is what I look forward to on Fridays…well that and the work week ending. Let me know what you are looking forward to hearing this weekend and let me know if I am missing anything. Mine are marked in Blue. Have a great listening weekend!!
- Whitesnake – Flesh and Blood – (Frontiers Records): The first album with Joel Hoekstra on lead guitar and around 8 years since the last album of new material. That is quite a break. Now, I haven’t listened to anything yet as I want to listen to it all for the first time at once. I hope it is heavy, loud and simply fantastic.
- Sammy Hager & the Circle – Space Between – (BMG): Sammy and Micheal Anthony seemed to be joined at the happy and Michael is part of every project Sammy does (except the Tequila business). This one throws Vic Johnson on guitar and Jason Bonham on drums. Another one I haven’t listened to anything yet. I will take it all in at one time.

My Sunday Song #10 is “God’s Not Dead (Like a Lion)” by the band Newsboys and from the movie called “Gods Not Dead”. My wife had mentioned that the movie “God’s Not Dead 2” was out now on DVD and we should watch it. That of course brought me back to this song which I felt I would share.
The inspiration for the movies was this song. The first movie “God’s Not Dead” was based around the premise of a college philosophy professor demands the students sign a petition declaring God is dead to pass his class. One student refuses and has to defend to the professor and the class why God is not dead. We watched with our family and it was a great family movie. The sequel “God’s Not Dead 2” is about a teacher who gets sued for mentioning God in class and how she goes defends herself. Looking forward to seeing it.

Since I did my favorites from 2009 last week, I thought I would continue that this week for Throwback Thursday. These are my favorite albums from 2010 (in no particular order)
Paper Tongues – Paper Tongues: What an impressive debut album. They are from Charlotte, NC which I was unaware of until recently. They haven’t put out a full length album since this one. I need to see if they are still together and maybe playing around town. Some standout songs are “Trinity”, “Ride to California” and “Get Higher”. Just great songs, great music and a positive message. Rock needs more bands like this!!

In honor of a possible reunion of DC Talk (announcement coming tomorrow, Wednesday), I thought I would do a playlist of all the side projects the members of DC Talk have done outside of the band. What exactly has Kevin Max, Tobymac and Michael Tait been up to when they weren’t a part of DC Talk? Actually, quite a lot and there has been some exceptional music.
We will start with Kevin Max. Outside of DC Talk he has released 8 full length solo albums, numerous EPs, he was lead singer for one album with Audio Adrenaline and he has done countless collaborations with other artists. These are my favorite Kevin Max songs:
