The Police – ‘Synchronicity Tour (1983)’ – Tour Program

The Police is one of the few bands in music history to go out on top. After only 5 albums and the release of their biggest album to date, they called it quits. The album was ‘Synchronicity’ which came out on June 17, 1983. The album had 5 singles and sold over 10 million copies worldwide. However, before they called it quit, they did tour the album. The tour lasted from July 23, 1983 through til March 4, 1984 and consisted of 105 shows which break out to 66 shows in North America, 36 in Europe and 3 in Australia.

A pretty impressive setlist and would’ve loved to have seen this tour, but I missed it. While out digging at one of my local record stores, I cam across the Tour Program from the 1983 leg of the tour and had to have it. I mean, I do collect Tour Books when I can find them. On a side note, the store had several autographed tour books fro Motley Crue, Skid Row, Metallica and a couple others but they all ran from around $275 and up. Not in my budget, sadly.

The Collection: Ep. 41 – December Wrap-Up 2024

As we end another month, it is time to go back and see what 2 Loud 2 Old Music added to the collection. This is December 2024 and we have lots of vinyl, CDs, cassettes and even books plus some music related items. So much to go through including another Noble Record Exclusive, Voice of America Archive Albums as well as another addition to the Rock Candy collection, the Kiss collection and Box Set collection. Lots of great albums to go though and show for this month so I hope you enjoy the show!!

Def Leppard – ‘X: World Tour (2003)’ – Tour Book

On July 30, 2002, Def Leppard released their album ‘X’. Which is either “X” or “Ten” depending on what you want to call it. It was the band’s 8th Studio album, but 10th album released to date. It saw the band take a lighter side to their rock and had some people calling it “The Love Album”. It went to #11 on the charts and spawned 3 singles, but failed to ever garner Gold or Platinum status.

The Tour started in June of 2002 and went until November 2003 where the band performed 163 shows which is quite impressive for an album that didn’t do that well. It was the last really BIG tour the band has ever done. Since that time, the longest a tour has lasted was around 100 shows. My Tour Book is from the 2003 leg of the Tour

Since this was 2003, it was not a good year for me to see shows since my wife and I had our first child that year. There was no way I was getting out to see a show as the schedule was too hectic. I hate I missed it, but I survived. Since I have no ticket stub to show you this time around, let’s get right to the book.

Kiss – 40th Anniversary World Tour (2014) – Tour Book

In 2014, Kiss toured their 40th Anniversary World Tour and the opening act was none other than Def Leppard. Yeah!  That is right.  The 2 bands I have seen in concert the most were playing together in the same show.  Wow!!  My family and I had just moved to Charlotte, NC that year and my brother, my sister and her husband drove up to Charlotte to see them with me.  That meant a lot that would come up and see us and go see a show. I would’ve driven down to Atlanta to see that show, but it was a weekday which meant work. My sow on July 19th, 2014 in Charlotte was a Saturday!!

If I am being honest about the show, Def Leppard was absolutely amazing.  Probably the best show I have seen them do.  They actually blew the doors off Kiss. Kiss has become a well organized, choreographed Las Vegas show and it felt forced.  It did not have the excitement as did Def Leppard’s. There was an electricity type energy in the crowd for Leppard that was not there for Kiss. Don’t get me wrong, Kiss was still great and it was still an awesome time. I am also so glad my family came up to see it with me.  I can’t find a stub, but I have a shirt and some pictures!! My pictures are pretty bad as my camera was an old iPhone that took shitty pictures.

Rush – Roll The Bones Tour 1991-1992 – Tour Program

If you read this blog regularly, you would notice that I started collecting Kiss Tour Books and this is a very recent thing. As a result, I have suddenly had numerous Tour Books fall in to my lap almost literally. First were a couple of Bon Jovi Tour Books and now I stumbled across not 1, not 2, not even 3, but 4 Rush Tour Books. It is like the Tour Book Gods are speaking to me. I grabbed all 4 as the prices were really great and made it worth owning. This here is the first of the 4 Rush Tour Book posts that coming. The place I found these was Hardy Boy Records in Mint Hill, NC. I always seem to find some cool stuff from him as I have found numerous Kiss Bootlegs at his shop. His shop is quickly becoming my favorite place to go.

Last week we covered the tour book for the album ‘Power Windows’. This time we are going through the tour book for the Roll The Bones Tour which ran from October 1991 to June 1992 and covered over 100 dates all across the Globe. And the setlist was pretty impressive…

Rush – ‘Power Windows Tour 1985-1986’ – Tour Book

This Tour Book for Rush is covering the tour for the album ‘Power Windows’. The tour ran from March 10, 1985 to May 26, 1986 and covered 75 dates all across the U.S. and there home country of Canada. And the setlist was pretty impressive…

Bon Jovi – Bon Jovi Tour 2011 – Tour Program

Welcome to the next Tour Book in the Bon Jovi Tour Book collection…and I only own two so a small collection at the moment. I didn’t start out collecting Tour Books for Bon Jovi, nope. I was only going to collect the Kiss Tour Books. However, life has a funny way of changing things. While out walking around an antique mall, I found my first Tour Book from the New Jersey Tour. It was cheap, so I bought it. This next one, I was out for Record Store Day on August 29, 2020 and after picking out my RSD vinyl and while I was waiting to check out, I saw another Tour Book for Bon Jovi. The price was right and so there you have it. I now have two and now seem to have started a Bon Jovi collection as well.

This Bon Jovi Tour Book is from the Bon Jovi Live Tour in 2011 in support of their sixth greatest hits compilation which is probably 4 too many as how many do you really need.  The tour went from February 9, 2011 until July 31, 2011 and was around 59 shows between North America and Europe.  It was huge success as most of their tours are and it was interesting one in that Richie Sambora would miss part of it due to having to go to rehab for “exhaustion” and alcoholism.  His replacement for part of the tour was Phil X who would end up replacing him in the long run a couple years later.

The band at the time was still the main four guys (Hugh McDonald was still not a full-time member).

Kiss – Alive / Worldwide Tour (1997) – Tour Book

In my quest to get all the Kiss Tour Books in my collection, I have now come to my fourth in the Tour Book Series.  This is one of two that came from the Kiss Alive / Worldwide Tour from 1996-1997.  This is the 1997 Tour Book that includes the Giant 1997 Poster Calendar as the earlier Tour Book with the black cover did not.  I have that book as well and will get to it once I finally have it in my possession as it is currently being held by my brother in Atlanta until I come down to visit as I am too cheap to pay for the shipping. Plus, it gives me another excuse to get back home to see the family.

This book I bought on eBay and it has a pretty interesting story on the shipping. Okay, it is interesting to me.  I bought the book at a great price at only $10 and paid $5 for shipping.  Sadly, the post office didn’t deliver it, instead I got notice that there was still postage due of $7.42.  What the F@$K????  I paid for shipping.  Well, it turns out the U.S. Postal Service did an inspection, opened it and found out it doesn’t qualify for Media Mail which is the cheaper mailing service used for books, CDs, etc…  I thought that this certainly qualifies and apparently so did the seller.

It turns out because this Tour Book had a calendar and advertising in it that is doesn’t qualify.  Again What the F@$K???  The advertising, btw, was the band members advertising their guitars and the merch page.  I couldn’t believe it.  I was extremely pissed that I had to take time out of my day and go pick this up and pay extra. I reached out to the seller to voice my displeasure and he quickly refunded the extra shipping cost. That was very much appreciated.

Now on to the Tour Book.  As we normally do, I will show you every page of the book in the order of the book so you can see what you missed from 1997.  This particular Tour Book was a replica of the European Tour Book and finally available to US Tour goers during the 1997 leg of the Tour. Kiss – World Domination 2003-2004 Tour – Tour Book

In yet another Kiss post, we are back on the topic of Tour Books. I had 3 Tour Books from Kiss and I have done posts on 2 of those and I really enjoyed going back through the book and looking at all the pictures.  The third one is from the End of the Road Tour and I will get to that one eventually.  In the meantime, I said to myself, “you know John, we should start collecting Tour Books”.  And I answered myself back with “John, that is a brilliant idea.  Not only are you handsome, but you are pretty damn smart too!”  I couldn’t agree with myself more.

That got weird fast!!

Back on topic.  I actually went on to eBay and noticed there are tons of them for sale, but dang! they are expensive.  Maybe this wasn’t a good idea.  Then I saw one that was only $5 and the pictures looked pretty great actually.  I added it to the Watch list and about 4 hours before it was to end, I figured let me place a bid.  So I did and I was not wanting to go over $10 so that was what I put in as the max bid. I went to bed and forgot about, but morning came and dang it, I got it.  My Tour Book collecting had officially begun.

The one I bought was from the World Domination Tour in 2003.  This was Kiss with Aerosmith and I actually missed this tour as I believe they came to town shortly after the birth of my first daughter so there was no way I was getting out to see a show.  So I was excited to see what this book looked like and now it is time to share it with all of you.
