Aerosmith – ‘Music From Another Dimension’ (2012) – Album Review (The Aerosmith Collection Series)

Our last review from Aerosmith was a live album from 2005. We jump all the way to 2012 for our next review which is pretty big gap between albums. Don’t fret though as they did release a couple live albums and 3 greatest hits albums during that time and honestly, I don’t own any of them. Since this is the Aerosmith Collection Series, we will stick to what is actually in my collection so here we are.

The band had a ton of issues between 2005 and 2012. They entered the studio to record a new album back in 2007, 2008 or 2009 (take your pick based on interviews) and nothing came of it. They toured, but they were plagued with health issues from several members and lots of shows were canceled. Tyler wanted to do solo work and seem to have stepped away for a little while. While out, Tyler became addicted to painkillers as a result of his knee injury and had to go to rehab. The remaining members were ready to replace Tyler as the singer and started auditioning new singers. Yeah, that didn’t go over well as lawsuits were filed, punches thrown and all sorts of mayhem over the years.

Friday New Releases – March 26, 2021

Can you believe March is almost over. For new releases it is as this the last one of the month and do we have a lot for you with well over 25 releases for you to check out. We cover the entire range of music I am guessing with this batch of releases. I have one that I am really excited about and another that is 20th Anniversary Edition that I am excited to explore again. Those two are first up and marked in Blue. Let me know which ones you want to hear first and what I might have missed so everyone can know about it. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the list. I hope you all have a wonderful, music-filled weekend!!!

  • A1X9sePsg1L._SS500_  Smith/Kotzen – Smith/Kotzen – (BMG Rights Mgmt): First up is Richie Kotzen (The Winery Dogs) and Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden). What a cool combination of guitar players. These guys will battle it out on guitar and on vocals. That is enough for me. I have not heard anything yet, but I know I want to so that is why it will be first up today on my list to play.
  • 61NSwgGysiL._SX522_  3 Doors Down – The Better Life (20th Anniversary Edition) – (Republic Records): I can’t believe it has been 20 years since this release, it is insane. By far, I think their best release and it is time to celebrate with a couple of unreleased tracks and some demos. That is all I want in an anniversary release…well maybe a live show from the tour would be good.

Friday New Releases – September 25, 2020

It is the last Friday of the month. Fall is upon or at least starting to feel a little like Fall. And the new releases keep on coming and this week there are a bunch. We have Anniversary celebrations, live albums and yes, even a Christmas album (ughh!!). Is there anything I am going to run out and buy? No, I will stream some, but nothing here that is a must have for me. I am sure there is something for you though as there is such a wide variety of releases. Let me know what you want to hear or what I may have missed as if it isn’t on here, at least it will be in the comments so people will know…all 3 of you (ha!). Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I will probably stream these…

Friday New Releases – September 14th

Okay, sit back and get ready for a ton of new music today.  There are an abundance of albums to choose from today so hopefully there is something for you.  My tastes this week are all over the board from Rock to Country to Christian Pop to Alternative to Tony Bennett (he is a category all his own).  My choices are in Blue.  Let me know what does or doesn’t interest you and let me know what I missed.  Happy listening and have a great weekend.

  • 81TVE9D0ABL._SX522_  Monster Truck – True Rockers – (Mascot Records):  The band’s last album ‘Sittin’ Heavy’ was amazing and really got me into this band.  The first song I heard on this one didn’t excite me, but this will probably be the first one I listen to this morning.  Hopefully the rest of it packs a punch and gives me more of what I love from the band which is gritty and dirty straight up rock & roll.

  • A1w1VtfribL._AC_UL115_  Carrie Underwood – Cry Pretty – (Universal Music Group):  Don’t judge me, I like Carrie Underwood.  She is a guilty pleasure and I am not afraid to admit it.  She has an incredible voice and her rendition of “How Great Thou Art” will move you to tears.  Anyway, I am looking forward to another release by her so keep them coming Carrie.

Giving “Thanks” – Playlist – Happy Thanksgiving

It is Thanksgiving time here in the States and I definitely have a lot to be thankful for.  In celebration of this wonderful Holiday, here are a collection of songs about giving thanks or at least things we should be thankful for.  Happy Thanksgiving to you all and thank you for taking the time to stop by and check out the blog.  It is much appreciated.

“Thank You For Loving Me” by Bon Jovi off the album ‘Crush’.  If you have that special someone, make sure to tell them Thank You for being a part of your life and for loving you for you.  If you don’t have that special someone, I love you!!  So you are welcome!!

“Give Thanks And Praise” by Bob Marley off the album ‘Confrontation’.  Actually not a bad way to start everyday by giving thanks for waking up and giving praise to our maker.

My Sunday Song – “How Great Thou Art” performed by Carrie Underwood (dedicated to my Mother)

For My Sunday Song #5, I chose “How Great Thou Art”.  Last week was one of the hardest weeks of my life.  My mother passed away last Sunday and went on to a better place where she can watch down upon us and protect us forever as a mother always does.  This song was sung during her funeral and for that reason, I am dedicating this post to her.  She was loved very much and will certainly be missed.  I feel a little piece of me is now lost, but at the same time I feel her presence with me.

My favorite version of this song was performed by Carrie Underwood and Vince Gill and the song will hold a special place in my heart forever. It was one of the most powerful performances of this song I have ever seen and it moved my to tears as I was listening to it again for this post.  With that, I will leave you with the song to enjoy and these final words…I Love You Mom!!

American Idol Farewell

Did you ever watch American Idol? I am sure at sometime over the last 15 years you had to have seen some shows.   I probably watched the first 4 seasons in full and then would only watch when they got down to the Top 10 in the next 4 seasons and then I would just watch when I could.

However, I did watch the final season, mainly to see who they bring back, and I actually enjoyed watching it.  There were a few standouts and their final 4 were all pretty decent. My daughter loved MacKenzie Bourg and I was a fan of Trent Harmon and La’Porsha Renea (who I thought was going to win until Trent’s performances on the finale). And Dalton had some pretty good moments (I love his cover of “Rebel Yell” by Billy Idol)

Watching the final season reminded me that they really did have some good artists even though most of them were crap. I also found it funny that some of the people that lost did better than the winners – can we say Chris Daughtry & Adam Lambert. Of course everyone knows some of the winners were spectacular – Kelly Clarkson (3 Grammy Awards) and Carrie Underwood (7 Grammy Awards). And one even won an Academy Award – Jennifer Hudson (also 1 Grammy).
