Friday New Releases – May 27, 2022

Can you believe May is almost over? Another month that has blown by. This weekend is Memorial Day Weekend where we remember all those men and women lost in the many wars we have been in over the many years of this country. I think people think this weekend is vacation and grilling only…a reason to drink and party…but not at all. Take a moment to remember why you can do all those things and what was sacrificed for it to happen. Now, back to the reason for the post. We have a ton of releases for you today with over 40 albums. There is only one I’m a really excited about and another I am intrigued about it. They are marked in Blue. Let me know what you want to hear and what we may have missed! Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!!

  • 81GWsHK-QBL._AC_UL640_FMwebp_QL65_  Def Leppard – Diamond Star Halos – (Bludgeon Riffola Limited / Mercury Records): There have been no new Def Leppard studio albums since I started this blog which is way way too long. I am excited about this one, but truly aren’t expecting a lot if I’m being honest. That didn’t stop me from ordering it…on vinyl exclusive from Target…on cassette and two different Japanese Edition CDs. I think that is every format. Yes, I have a problem…deal with it!!
  • A15cHqIFTTL._AC_UL640_FMwebp_QL65_  Mark Tremonti – Mark Tremonti Sings Frank Sinatra – (JMM / Slow Down Sounds): The guitarist of Creed, Alter Bridge and lead singer of Tremonti goes soft with Frank Sinatra…or does he? I don’t know as I haven’t heard it yet as I want to take it all in at once. Here’s to hoping it is something cool.

Creed – “With Arms Wide Open” – Limited Edition CD Single

In my digging, whether vinyl or cd, I like to find things I hadn’t seen before and this was one of those items. It was a Limited Edition CD Single from Creed for their song “With Arms Wide Open”. The release was to help promote and fund the With Arms Wide Open Foundation that was started by the band. $3 from the sale of each single went to the Foundation.

The CD has 3 separate versions of the song. It has the Strings Version, the Acoustic Version and the Rock Version. There is also a video of the song as well. So if you like the song, you get a nice variety of versions for the song and that usually makes every collector happy. I will be honest, vocally each version of this song is feel exactly the same. The only difference is they layered in strings for the String Version and acoustic guitars for the Acoustic Version. The Rock Version has all instruments at full force but is around seconds shorter.

What I loved about the CD single is the fact it was transparent. Yes, you get a picture disc as well with the crossed hands of the father and child, but you can see right through the disc. I don’t think I’ve seen one like that before so I had to grab it. And I do like Scott Stapp so there was that as well.

The Top 20 Rock Songs of 2016

Welcome to the Top 20 Rock Songs of 2016.  These songs are my favorite songs of the year and were not necessarily played on the radio or even shot up the charts.  They just moved me in some way good or bad!

If you missed the Top Rock Albums of 2016 or the Top Albums of 2016 (that were not Rock), just click on the link and go check them out.

It is time to start the list so here we go…

20. “Parasite (feat. John 5)” by Ace Frehley off the album ‘Origins, Vol. 1’:  I wouldn’t pick a covers song for this list if this one wasn’t so damn good.  John 5 on guitar is amazing and since this is an old Kiss song it is perfect for Ace.  I think it sounds better than the original.

19. “Raise Hell” by Dorothy off the album ‘RockisDead’:  This bluesy gem from Dorothy has such a great sound and Dorothy’s vocals are perfect for this style.  I expect big things from this band!

Friday New Releases – April 29th

It is Friday again and not a moment too soon.  Today’s new releases are just what this metal head has been waiting for and I have a feeling these will be on heavy rotation over the next week.

Sixx A.M. – Prayers for the Damned (Eleven Seven Music)

When Nikki Sixx put together Sixx A.M. for the Heroin Diaries, I thought it was going to be a one-off project.  Gladly that was not the case.  This album is their fourth one and since all three previous albums have been exceptional, I am hoping that streak continues.
