How are we already in June. This is crazy. Where does the time go? Thankfully, however, we have a bunch of new releases to help us enjoy the flying time ever more. There are bunch of releases this week covering many different genres so there should a little something for everyone. There are a bunch I want to hear, but nothing I am running out and buying because all my money is going in to next week’s new releases. As my close friend Barney says, “It will be LEGENDARY!!!” My choices are highlighted in Blue. Let me know what you want to hear and what I may have missed so everyone can know. Thanks, as always, for stopping by and I hope you have an amazing weekend!
Crowded House – Dreamers Are Waiting – (Lester Records / BMG): The boys are back. Neil Finn and gang are back with their first album in 11 years. I guess Neil’s short sting with Fleetwood Mac got his creative juices flowing. They have already been playing to huge sold out shows in New Zealand so hopefully sometime over the next year, they will make to the States. I didn’t Dream it Was Over and I’m glad it really isn’t…yes that was cheesy.
Billy F. Gibbons – Hardware – (Concord Records): The ZZ Top frontman is back with another solo album. He has been pumping them out and I for one am glad he is. As much as new Top music would be great, this is the next best thing. It is exactly what you would expect from Billy. And Matt Sorum on drums
Finally! A week with a few releases I am actually interested in. There is still not a ton of releases, but hopefully something you like. My choices are highlighted in Blue. At work, I am in the middle of budget season and my time is limited, but I will find time for a few of these selections. Let me know what I missed and what you are interested in listening to this week. Thanks and have a great weekend.
Dee Snider – For the Love of Metal – (Napalm Records): Dee Snider’s last release, We Are the Ones, was exceptional. This one is supposed to be harder and better so we will be popping it on first on the way to work. Let’s hope another great album has been made. If the below song is any indication, it will be.
Halestorm – Vicious – (Atlantic Record): Lzzy Hale and the boys are back in full force. It feels like it has been ages since new music, but it has only been 3 years since the last album and a little over a year since the last E.P., but that is too long for me. When this band turns it up, watch out, they will blow your ears off and this sounds like it will do just that.
It is Friday yet again and there are even more albums out and ready for you to go buy, stream or do with it as you will. Not a lot this week, but one critical one for my kids. The ones I will check out are highlighted in Blue. I hope there is something for you.
Katy Perry – Witness – (Capitol Records): After 4 long years since Prism, Katy is back and better than ever…well…maybe not. She has released 3 singles are ready and I have to say I am not that impressed. I only like the first one “Chain to the Rhythm”, the rest have been kind of awful (especially “Bon Appetit”). And I have to mention how awful the album cover looks to me. Not off to a good start. I will still give it a try though, but expectations are now pretty low.
Lady Antebellum – Heart Break – (Capitol Nashville): Lady Antebellum is back after three years and the members doing a little stuff on their own. They are pure pop country, but I love Charles Kelley’s voice and Hillary Scott’s as well. Put the two together and wow!!
