Happy Friday!! Another week gone by and only 6 more Fridays until Christmas!! Can you believe it? There are a bunch here for you to decide if you want to add some things to your Christmas List. You have a wide variety so hopefully there is something for everyone. I only have a couple I am really interested and they are in Bold. Let me know what you want to hear or maybe what we may have missed so everyone knows about it that stops by and checks out the list. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful and exciting weekend.
Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars & Anderson .Paak) – An Evening with Silk Sonic – (Aftermath Entertainment / Atlantic): First up for me is Silk Sonic. You get the both Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak in one band and let me tell you it doesn’t get any smoother than that!! I really loved the first single “Leave the Door Open” and it has made me so excited for this release!! This will get my weekend going.
Taylor Swift – Red (Taylor’s Version) – (Republic Records): Say what you will about her, but she did shake up radio and music in general. Hell, she is one of the only people out there that actually sells massive amounts of physical product. My kids and I decided we would collect these “Taylor Versions” of her re-recordings as there is an abundance of music from the Vault to come with each release. This is her 2nd re-recording and actually a favorite album of the family so we will be grabbing this one.
The week before Thanksgiving and the last big week of new releases. There will be more releases over the next three weeks, but not as big as this one (in numbers, not necessarily quality). There are a handful I will give a spin and they will be highlighted in Blue as usual. Let me know what interests you or what I might have missed. Now next Friday there are new releases, but it is also Record Store Day Black Friday, so hopefully some I can grab…until then.
Coldplay – Everyday Life – (Parlophone Records / Warner Music): I will admit, I hold hopes out that they will release something as good as ‘Parachute’ again. So, this will get a spin to see what they bring to the table this time. My hopes aren’t too high.
Beck – Hyperspace – (Fonograf Records / Capitol): Okay, it’s Beck…why would he not get a spin? His quirkiness is always welcome even if not always appreciated.
Welcome to a pretty slow week. Only one I am interested in this week and there aren’t a ton of others coming out. Hopefully next week will bring us more. However, it might be a good week to catch up on earlier releases as I am sure that is what I will be doing. My choices are in Blue. Let me know if there is anything you are interested in as well.
Breaking Benjamin – Ember – (Hollywood Records): We thought the band was over in 2009, but it returned in 2015 although it wasn’t the original band, just the singer. Didn’t matter, it was the singer I always liked so glad to hear some new music from him. This time the new band was involved in the writing so hopefully will add a new layer to the band. We will see…or hear I guess.
Metallica – The $5.98 EP: Garage Days Re-Revisited – (Blackened Recordings):
September has an incredible number of new releases coming out and today is the start of it all. There is now way humanly possible to get through all of them and I am not going to try. I will miss out on a lot of great stuff, but each week there is going to be too much to get through. I would have to quit my paying job and then do this full time (which doesn’t pay)…not going to happen, but wish it could.
The ones in Blue are the ones I will make every effort to listen to and enjoy! Which ones are you looking forward to hearing?
Rev Theory – Revelation – (Another Record Co): I like it loud and heavy and that is what I expect I will get with Rev Theory’s new release. I have thoroughly enjoyed their prior releases and what I hear so far sounds great. Give them a listen.
