Welcome back to the Kiss Review Series. Today we are doing another bonus edition. As I am going through the band’s releases, I am going to throw in different items from my collection that aren’t part of the band’s normal album releases. Singles, promos or whatever I can come up with.
Since we just talked ‘Destroyer’ in the last album review, these last two posts are specifically related to that album. The first was the 45 Single of the song “Flaming Youth”. This one is a Special Promo promoting their Tour in support of ‘Destroyer’. Now, I am cheating here again as I wrote a review on this years ago, so I am redoing it here so it is now a part of the Kiss Review Series. I hope you like it.
In the further adventures of my box full of vinyl, there was yet another Kiss collectible included that I cherish deeply. It was a 33 1/3 Vinyl Single in support of their tour for the 1976 Destroyer Tour. I believe the album was released to radio stations for promo and not available for resale. I actually know it was not available for resale because it says it on the Label of the album.
The album jacket actually says “Not For Resale”, but has been removed from my cover…very strange. The person that removed it was very careful and didn’t cut fully through the front cover…see below.
The promo album only had four cuts from the Destroyer Album. The album still plays great with only a few little pops here and there, but they just add to the charm. Rather than retype the songs, I will give you another picture of the back of the album cover.
An interesting fact is the label on the vinyl is the Kiss “Bicentennial Theme” and is the only time in KISStory that it has been used (again, I think that is the case). It is completely badass. This Bob Ezrin produced promo is truly amazing even though I already have every song on it in so many different formats.
This is one I am proud to have in my collection and will enjoy it for years to come. I really am amazed it hasn’t been damaged after all these years sitting in a box. I hope you enjoyed the little tale of this album.

Sweet album bro! This actually makes me nostalgic, because right now I’m in the process of moving with my parents, and the town I’m moving away from is the EXACT same hometown as Kiss. I always thought it was cool to have grown up in the same town as Kiss.

Thanks. I think that is pretty cool that you are from the same hometown as Kiss.

This looks really great. A smashing item for a fan to get their hands on!

Definitely a fan piece…maybe a fanatic piece. Casual fan would not understand why you would want an album with only four songs that are the same as the album.

I think anyone who is mad about a band would understand someone’s need to have something like this…

That is an awesome label and collectible!

I love seventies items and this is a cool piece. That was always one of my favorite posters from them with that pose….I have a music room at home that has mostly seventies items in it. Including a fuzzy orange Chaise lounge chair from around 74.
I might do a post on my 70s/music room.

Have you seen the show, The New Girl?
There’s a character on the show (Schmidt) that pronounces words in a unique manner – so when I read ‘Flaming Youth’ I can’t help but hear ‘Youth’ in his voice!

Ha! Love it. Now I am going to do that too.

Radio promos rock. Some of the albums I have are actual radio promos which are not for sale.
Nice piece of history.
