Friday New Releases – September 9, 2022

Happy Friday and we have a ton of releases for you this week with over 50+ new releases. I have a few I want to hear and definitely have purchased one of these so far and it is the first one on the list. Scan through and let me know what you want to hear this week or what we may have missed out on. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

  • kisssoundboarddesmoines  Kiss – Off the Soundboard: Des Moines 1977 – (UMe): Kiss on their 4th Soundboard release and I’m a little behind as I haven’t even listened to the last one and there is another one out…crazy. Maybe this will force me to open them both up and spin them. The other 3 have been from the reunion era or later. This is the first one with the classic line-up and I am excited to dive in to this one. Bring ’em on!
  • 51ERxmZexXL._AC_UY436_FMwebp_QL65_  Robbie Williams – XXV – (Robert Williams / Farrell Music Ltd): Robbie Williams is now on his 13th studio album and it his 25th Anniversary as a solo artist. It is full of re-recorded and orchestrated versions of his biggest hits. Plus with the deluxe edition you get three new songs. A must for my collection.

Friday New Releases – September 2, 2022

September? Is it September already? No way! Impossible…yet here we are. It is Labor Day Weekend here in the States and that means not a ton of releases as most bands don’t want to compete with peoples travel money. However, we still have around 20 for you today down from the 40 to 50 we normally see. I actually have two I want to here and they are marked in Blue! Let me know what you want to hear and what we may have missed. I hope everyone has a great weekend as I know I will enjoy my 3 day weekend!!

  • 71+DquXarOL._AC_UY436_FMwebp_QL65_  Megadeth – The Sick, The Dying…and the Dead – (Universal Music): I can’t believe it has been 6 years since their last effort with the phenomenal, ‘Dystopia’. I really loved that album. A lot has happened with Covid and Ellefson’s firing, Dave’s health issues…a lot. Glad to have Dave back and can’t wait to hear what’s in store this time around.
  • 819N-0dN5VL._AC_UY436_FMwebp_QL65_  King’s X – Three Sides of One – (InsisdeOutMusic): King’s X is a band I never really got in to, but that doesn’t mean anything. These guys are a band’s band…musicians love these guys and they should…super talented. I will give it a listen to see if it finally clicks for me as I have mad respect for them.

Friday New Releases – August 26, 2022

We are at the end of Summer, schools back in session and though still hot, we know Fall is just around the corner. Until it arrives, why don’t you pick up some new releases this week as there are a ton. We have over 50 for you this week and there are some good ones. There is only one for me this week and others I might get to eventually. My choice is first up. Let me know what you want to hear or what we may have missed. Thanks for stopping by this week and I hope you all have a great weekend!!

  • 81VYJy7TKCL._AC_UY436_FMwebp_QL65_  Will Hoge – Wings On My Shoes – (EDLO Records / Soundly Music): If you follow this site, you know I am a huge Will Hoge fan and I am super excited about this release. I got to hear one of these songs when I saw him in concert earlier this year and he was amazing. Can’t wait to throw this one on. It is a cross between Country, Americana with a little rock thrown in for good measure. If you don’t mind a little political and social commentary at time, this one is for you.

And then there are all the rest…happy hunting….

  • A1wQ2lLUJlL._AC_UY436_FMwebp_QL65_  Muse – Will of the People – (Warner Music)

Friday New Releases – August 19, 2022

Welcome to the Friday New Release Post! We have another 30+ releases for you again this week and some scorchers on here. As hot as the Summer heat and it has been hot!! There are a couple I’ll listen to, but nothing I am running out and buying. Let me know what you want to hear this week or what albums we have missed. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

  • A1UFiTEfr2L._AC_UY436_FMwebp_QL65_  Panic at the Disco – Viva Las Vengeance – (Fueled by Ramen / WEA): Brendon Urie is back with his 7th album and I am sure I will be hearing a lot of this as all my girls love this guy. Yes, even my wife. I don’t mind them so I won’t be bothered by hearing at as he has some great tracks. Hoping for a few more here. My oldest daughter actually has all his albums on vinyl and I am sure she will be getting this one to…I’m sure I’ll be paying for it somehow.
  • 91OlJzVq3wL._SX522_  Five Finger Death Punch – Afterlife – (Better Noise Music): These metal men are back with more aggressive angry metal. I’m not a huge fan, but there are always a handful of songs I end up liking and I have a pretty good playlist going. Here’s hoping for a few more to add on.

Friday New Releases – August 12, 2022

Happy Friday everyone…you did it! You made it to another weekend and not a moment too soon. To celebrate, why don’t you help yourself to some new music. I know I will as there are two I’m really interested in and they are highlighted in Blue. Take a look through the batch we have for your this week as we have over 35 releases today. See which ones you want and let us know. Also, let us know what we may have missed so everyone else knows as well. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

  • 71wEDFrXRML._AC_UY436_FMwebp_QL65_  Hollywood Undead – Hotel Kalifornia – (BMG Rights Mgmt): I’m not a huge Rap fan by any means. Not something I like much. However, throw in some metal and hard rock beats and Hollywood Undead is something I really enjoy. They are now on their 8th Studio album and I am still along for the ride.
  • 91odpcia9kL._AC_UY436_FMwebp_QL65_  Collective Soul – Vibrating – (Fuzze-Flex Records): Collective Soul has been around since 1992 and 30 years later, still going strong. These local boys (well, close enough as they are from Stockbridge, GA and was from Marietta, GA) have been a favorite since the beginning and I am happy to add another album to the collection. They are on their 11th studio album and can’t wait.

Friday New Releases – August 5, 2022

It is August, Summer is creeping to an end, but the heat is getting hotter…speaking of H.E.A.T. The only album I’m interested in is the new H.E.A.T. album. There are a bunch other releases so let me know what you want to hear first this week and if we missed anything. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend.

  • 91s3H1io7ZL._AC_UL640_FMwebp_QL65_  H.E.A.T. – Force Majeure – (earMusic / Edel Music & Entertainment): I really liked their last singer, Erik Gronwell, but he left and is now in Skid Row. Great a new singer…but wait. The new singer is their original singer Kenny Leckremo and he is pretty awesome as well. Finally a band changes a singer, I am not unhappy about it. Can’t wait to spin this one!!

And all the rest…

  • 91Wr4oPJf-L._AC_UY436_FMwebp_QL65_  Neil Young and Promises of the Real – Noise and Flowers (live) – (The Other Show Productions / Reprise Records)

July 2022 Purchases – Vinyl, CD’s and 8-Tracks!!

We are moving through the year quite fast I believe as it is already the end of July. And it was a hot one, both temperature and purchases. Now, I do have a handful of vinyl, but as prices skyrocket, I am focusing on the albums that mean something to me or from bands that mean something to me so the purchases have slowed. CDs are cheaper and a lot easier to obtain so I seem to be buying way more of those these days. With minor exceptions, I have been laser focused on what I’m buying. Let’s go through the vinyl first. First up is the new album from Shinedown called ‘Planet Zero’. I have all their albums on vinyl as I am a big fan so why not get the new one…

Then it I picked up a couple holy grail type albums. First was one from Kiss that had only been issued for their very limited exclusive Kissteria box set. I didn’t think I’d every own one. Thanksfully, they re-issued it on vinyl and I snagged a copy. Not their best compilation, but one that was lacking in my vinyl collection so couldn’t be happier…My list of missing vinyl is now smaller.

Friday New Releases – July 29, 2022

July is over!! Tell me it isn’t so. That means Summer is getting close to an end. Thankfully a vacation is coming soon, but until then let’s talk business. Today is Friday which means we have a whole new batch of new releases for you. This week there are over 40 to choose from and some heavy hitters this week. For me, there is only one album that I remotely care about this week and when you see it, you will know why. It is the first on the list and I am a huge fan!! Let me know what you want to hear this week or what we may have missed as it does happen. Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!!

  • 6173vjJhCQL._AC_UY436_FMwebp_QL65_  Matt Nathanson – Boston Accent – (Acrobat Records): I love Matt Nathanson, no not in that way, in a musical way. His music moves me, his lyrics are painted pictures and the stories he tells are so relatable. He’s completely and utterly brilliant. I have this one on order although the vinyl won’t be here for months, my CD and the digital download will be here today. I’m ready to spend a lot of time with this one.

And then there is the rest…including the great Beyonce!!!

  • 61BZfdV19hL._AC_UY436_FMwebp_QL65_  Beyonce – Renaissance – (Parkwood Entertainment / Columbia Records)

Matt Nathanson – ‘When Everything Meant Everything E.P.’ – Album Review

It had been three years since Matt had released a full studio album, and in November 2002, he finally released a 5 song E.P. titled ‘When Everything Meant Everything’ on an indie label called Acrobat. Within a year, Matt would finally sign his first major label record contract and he would release ‘Beneath the Fireworks’ on Universal. Three of the five songs on this E.P. would appear on that album, however, they would be completely different mixes which makes this E.P. really cool for fans as 2 songs were never released on an album and the other 3 are previously unreleased original mixes. Yes please, I’ll take a copy!! All the song were written by Matt Nathanson and his writing partner at the time Mark Weinberg.

The first track is “Pretty the World” which would be on ‘Beneath the Fireworks’ but this version is over 30 seconds longer due in part to a soft acoustic opening that is omitted from the album version which is to its detriment because I like that part. And the end of the song fades out more and again I think makes a better version. The song is a high energy pop song about him being with a woman that sees life through a beautiful perspective and he wants to see the world through her eyes. It is a contagious song that sees Matt developing in to a great singer/songwriter as his confidence as certainly grown since his last studio album 3 year prior.
