Things have been busy at work so time has been limited and thankfully for me and my wallet, this week is lacking in things I am eager to hear. I need to catch up on everything I’ve purchased lately. There are a ton of releases so hopefully you will find something new to hear. Let me know what that might be and if we missed anything this week. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a great weekend!!
Orianthi – Live from Hollywood – (Frontiers Records)
Happy Friday…I hope everyone is staying cool. Speaking of cool, we have a bunch of cool stuff for you this week. We don’t have as much as some weeks, but there are still over 30 releases this week. I have a few I am interested in hearing and some I’ll get to eventually and those will be bolded. Let me know what you want to hear this week or what we may have missed. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend!
James Bay – Leap – (Mercury Records / Republic Records / UMG): James Bay is back and it has been awhile as it has been 4 years since his last one. He is a fantastic guitarists and his music leans between folk, pop, rock, Americana and whatever else he feels like playing. I am excited to get some new tunes.
Journey – Freedom – (Freedom JN / BMG): Speaking of being gone awhile, Journey hasn’t had a new album in 11 years…that’s right…11 years. It is about time. Can’t wait to hear Neal rip on guitar and Arnel sing his heart out (man what a voice he has). Even Dean Castronovo sings on one song so this should be a good listen. Can’t wait to hear it.
Wow! Already July and sadly, there are not a lot of releases this weekend and that couple that we are coming up on July 4th…Independence Day in the U.S. and maybe they know everyone is either traveling and/or spending too much on Fireworks. There is one I am excited about and have pre-ordered. Hopefully it will be here today. It is the first on on the list. Let me know what you want to hear this week. Thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone has a great and wonderful weekend!
Shinedown – Planet Zero – (Atlantic Recording Corp): My one big listen this week (and purchase) is Shinedown’s new one ‘Planet Zero’. This is the band’s 7th album in almost 20 years, so not too bad. They keep pushing themselves and trying new things and I can’t wait to hear what they bring to the table this time around.
And then we have all the rest. Hopefully you find something you like!!
With over 60 albums released today, you would think I would find something I had to buy. However, you’d be wrong. There are things I will eventually give a listen, but nothing I am running out to buy. That doesn’t mean there isn’t anything good. There are a ton. And I am sure, as a result, you would find something in this batch of stellar releases. Let me know what you want to hear or what I may have missed. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!
Black Stone Cherry – Live From the Royal Albert Hall… Y’all – (Mascot Label Group)
Coheed & Cambria – Vaxis II: A Window of the Waking Mind – (Roadrunner Records / Elektra Records)
We are in the middle of the month and still a ton of releases. This week we have around 50 releases for your viewing pleasure today. I actually have a bunch I want to hear (before I buy) and one that is already on order and will be here today. Those are first up and marked in Blue. Let me know what you are digging this week and what we may have missed as that does happen. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you all have a great weekend.
Lit – Tastes Like Gold – (Round Hill Records): It has been 5 years since their last album and it was more tinged towards country than the pop punk they usually do. This time they are going back to their original sound…thank goodness. Here’s hoping for a return to form.
Iconic – Second Skin – (Frontiers Records): Another Frontiers Supergroup which is actually getting kind of ridiculous…but is one is featuring Nathan James (Inglorious), Michael Sweet (Stryper), Joel Hoesktra (Whitesnake), Marco Mendoza (ex-Journey, Whitesnake), Tommy Aldridge (Whitesnake). It was co-produced by Michael Sweet and Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline, Revolution Saints). Hard to argue with a line-up like that. And the fact Michael Sweet isn’t even singing is a huge surprise. Nathan is a beast on vocals so this should be good.
Another Friday and thankfully another weekend! To make that weekend even more enjoyable, we have brought you another batch of releases. With over 40 to choose from, there is bound to be something to your liking. If not, sorry…I did my best!! I only have one I am interested in and if you follow this site, it will be obvious which one that is…plus it is marked in Blue. Let me know what you want to hear or what may have been left off the list so everyone knows to expect it. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!
Kiss – Off the Sounboard: Donington 1996 – (Universal Music / Simstan Music): We are now on the third edition of the Off the Soundboard Series and that is two for this year. Rumor has it one more will be coming. This one is Reunion Era Kiss so I am excited about this one as the original 4 are back!!
We are now in June and things are heating up, but for me not so much on the New Releases. There is only one I’m excited about and one I am curious. They are both marked in Blue. Let me know what you are interested in listening to this week or what we may have missed. As there are over 40 albums on here, but we do miss some from now and again. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Crobot – Feel This – (Mascot Label Group): Crobot is now on the fourth full length album and this Pennsylvania hard rock/funk rock band knows how to bring it. If you like it heavy and a little funky, five these guys a chance. I’m glad I did.
The Fixx – Every Five Seconds – (JARC Ltd): It has been 10 years since their last studio album. I guess one thing lead to another and they didn’t have time. But thankfully Cy Curnin and team are back. I don’t know what to expect, but I am eager to give it a try.
Can you believe May is almost over? Another month that has blown by. This weekend is Memorial Day Weekend where we remember all those men and women lost in the many wars we have been in over the many years of this country. I think people think this weekend is vacation and grilling only…a reason to drink and party…but not at all. Take a moment to remember why you can do all those things and what was sacrificed for it to happen. Now, back to the reason for the post. We have a ton of releases for you today with over 40 albums. There is only one I’m a really excited about and another I am intrigued about it. They are marked in Blue. Let me know what you want to hear and what we may have missed! Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!!
Def Leppard – Diamond Star Halos – (Bludgeon Riffola Limited / Mercury Records): There have been no new Def Leppard studio albums since I started this blog which is way way too long. I am excited about this one, but truly aren’t expecting a lot if I’m being honest. That didn’t stop me from ordering it…on vinyl exclusive from Target…on cassette and two different Japanese Edition CDs. I think that is every format. Yes, I have a problem…deal with it!!
Mark Tremonti – Mark Tremonti Sings Frank Sinatra – (JMM / Slow Down Sounds): The guitarist of Creed, Alter Bridge and lead singer of Tremonti goes soft with Frank Sinatra…or does he? I don’t know as I haven’t heard it yet as I want to take it all in at once. Here’s to hoping it is something cool.
Things are heating up here in Charlotte and so are the new releases. This week there is one that is highly anticipated from a lot of people and it is up first and I am interested in it as well as his prior two were great. I have a couple others I want to hear this week and all are marked in Blue. Let me know what you want to hear and if I missed anything, let us know so everyone can learn about it. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!
Harry Styles – Harry’s House – (Columbia Records): I have to admit, I really like his prior two releases. I didn’t have a choice of listening to them as my girls think he’s dreamy. But little did I know I would enjoy them almost as much. Can’t wait to hear what he has in store for us with this release.
Gavin DeGraw – Face the River – (RCA Records / Sony): Gavin DeGraw has such a great voice and can write a killer pop song. They tell great stories and are catchy as hell. He can write a melody and a great chorus. Here is hoping for more of the same.
Oh my!! It’s Friday the 13th! Nothing good happens on Friday the 13th…well…except for new releases and we have about 40 for you this week. I have to say though, for me, there isn’t much I’m really interested in. Three is one I’ll try just because of the people in it, but expectations are a little low. My choice is highlighted in Blue. Take a look through and see what you want to hear this week and let us know what they are (if there are more than one) otherwise just tell us which one. And let us know what we may have missed that came out and is not on the list. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
Skills – Different Worlds – (Frontiers Records): The band is one of this Frontiers band that they piece together some great musicians. This was cool for awhile, but now it is getting old. However, this one still intrigues me for one member, guitarists Brad Gillis from Night Ranger. The rest of the band is Renan Zonta, vocalist for the Brazilian rock band Electric Mob, Billy Sheehan from Mr. Big & The Winery Dogs and David Huff from David and the Giants. We will see how it it…
And the rest of the field is as follows…
Kendrick Lamar – Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers – (Top Dawg Entertainment / Aftermath / Interscope Records)
The Chainsmokers – So Far So Good – (Disruptor Records / Columbia)
