Friday New Releases – February 24, 2023

Happy Friday! And any Friday with new releases should be a happy one, no doubt. This week we have around 50 new releases for you and a wide range of genres. There should be something for everyone this week and if not, well, I don’t know what else I can do for you. I only have one I’m really interested in hearing and that is Adam Lambert. He’s such an amazing singer and his stuff is usually quite interesting. I might dive in to a few others, but this is really what I’ll spin today (or stream since I don’t actually have a copy). Let me know what you want to hear this week and if we missed anything. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

Friday New Releases – September 27th

Welcome to the last Friday of the month and the last of the September new releases.  Let me tell you there are a bunch.  There seems to be a little for everyone from Metal to Pop to Christian to Country to Jazz to Electronica to Soundtracks. You name it and it is probably here.  I have a few I am interested in and will stream, but nothing that I am running out and buying until I have heard it first.  Those choices are highlighted in Blue.  Let me know who you want to hear and what I might have missed as it is known to happen (quite frequently actually).  I hope there is something for you.  Have a great weekend.

  • 81TxYOBjwUL._SX522_  Hellyeah – Welcome Home – (Eleven Seven Music):  The band’s sixth studio album and first since losing founding member and drummer, the great Vinnie Paul. Luckily for us, he is featured on this album so fans need to grab this for that fact alone.  For me, the band is hit and miss.  They are hard and heavy, no doubt, and sometimes I need it that way.  It will get blasted in the car for sure (and at home).

  • 91STECUG+ML._SX522_  Steel Panther – Heavy Metal Rules – (Steel Panther):  Yet another release by the Steel Panther.  Let me tell you they don’t hold back on this one. Their porn rock has kind of grown old for me and I really wish they would do a straight up rock record that isn’t such filth.  It was funny at first, now it is old and boring.  I will give it at least one listen, but honestly, not expecting much…sorry guys.  Seeing them live is where the fun is really at so go check them out.

Tuesday’s Memes – Steel Panther

Okay, be prepared for vulgar and disgusting womanizing memes.  Why?  Because it is time to do Steel Panther…I don’t mean do as in do them…I mean we are going to have Steel Panther as our theme this week.  Get your mind out of the gutter…wait…don’t do that.  The gutter is where all these memes belong so stay in the gutter.

You are being warned…don’t go any further if you are easily offended.  This is not a PG post.

It also raises a question about what this band does.  Is this a band that can still go on even after the #MeToo movement or is this considered too offensive now?  Something to chew on for you.

Enjoy!!

Don’t say I didn’t warn you…

And I know for a fact this is true…

Steel Panther – Artist Spotlight

With a new album out, I thought I would update Steel Panther’s Artist Spotlight which was originally posted early last year:

Do the following names ring a bell?

  • Ralph Saenz
  • Russ Parrish
  • Travis Haley
  • Darren Leader

No, what about these?

  • Michael Starr
  • Satchel
  • Lexxi Foxx
  • Stix Zadinia

Yes, I thought those would.  They are Steel Panther.  The greatest Metal, Comedy band of all time!  That is right…Metal and Comedy.  These guys are a tongue-in-cheek version of the 80’s Glam Metal scene.  They are vulgar, repulsive, hilarious and man they can play some serious metal music.  Well, not really serious music as it is comedy, but they can actually play and play well.

Five years ago, I was in Los Angeles and got a chance to go see these guys live at the House of Blues (at least I think it was the House of Blues).  I am not sure how I would describe what I saw, but I know I enjoyed it immensely.  The show was part metal concert, part comedy show and part soft porn.  They never take themselves seriously and are always having a good time.  The audience loved them and women were jumping up on stage and doing pretty much whatever they wanted. It was a little insane.

Friday New Releases – March 24th

Are you ready for Friday New Releases?  There are an absolute abundance of records today.  So many to choose from and where the heck do you begin.  I have more I want to hear than I have any week this year.  It is going to be busy non-stop music week.  I hope there is something for you.  The ones I want are in Blue and I can’t wait to get started!!!!

  • 61olilqtlgl-_ac_us160_  Colton Dixon – Identity – (Sparrow):  Colton Dixon has finally returned with a new album.  Colton is a Christian artist and he is a former American Idol Alum, but don’t let any of that scare you away.  He is an amazing talent.  This album is broken up into three parts about the spiritual journey of your Body, Mind & Spirit and should be very interesting.

  • 170x170bb-19  James Blunt – The Afterlove – (Atlantic Records UK):  The fifth studio album from James Blunt drops today.  I have followed him since the beginning even after hearing “You’re Beautiful” way too many times.  He always delivers stellar songs and he has a unique voice that I enjoy over and over.
