I love it when I find something completely unexpected. At a record store down in St. Augustine Florida, I came across a CD Maxi Single for the song “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” but it wasn’t the Dynasty single, nope. It was the live version in support of the Kiss Alive III album. It is actually a European release and not released anywhere outside of Europe. Score!! I snatched it up just so I could show it off to you guys (and gals).

The single is for “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” off ‘Dynasty’ and I cringed when I saw this the original Alive III album as it is so overplayed, but damn! I think they do a killer job with this one. Might be the best version of this song I have heard live maybe because it is less disco sounding and more rocking. Eric’s drums are very prominent as well as Gene’s bass. The only negative is the backing vocals need a little work. Regardless, it is still a killer track. Track 1 & 3 are recorded live at The Palace of Aubern Hills, Michigan, November 29th of 1992.
Then we get the studio version of “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” from ‘Dynasty’. The song was written by Paul Stanley, Vini Poncia and the great Desmond Child makes his first of many appears with the band (only one on this album). The story goes that Disco was really big at the time and the record company wanted the band to be a little more commercial. Paul thought any idiot could write a disco song and a bet was made and a few hours later, the song was written and the Paul proved his point. The song went to #11 on the Billboard Hot 100. And as I mentioned earlier, the result was people thought this was a disco album. Wrong!! This song did have every trapping of a disco song, the tempo, the beat, the pop sound, the disco sound effects…I mean it was disco…but it was good and it was catchy and they still play it, but I still don’t know if I can give it full marks. Now on a side note, this is Gene’s least favorite song (and Peter and Ace hate it too).

Then we get a live Gene track for “I Love It Loud” off Creatures of the Night. The song sounds pretty powerful and the backing vocals are more prominent which I think adds a boost to the song. Really nicely done and a real crowd pleaser of a song as everyone gets to sing along on the chorus.
The final new track is “Partners in Crime” which was written by Paul Stanley and Adam Mitchell off the ‘Killers’ album. It is so 80’s sounding and it is heavy on the sex since it is about an affair with a married woman. A typical rock song of the time and I like it. It has slow groove and Paul sounds so cocky and confident. It is a slick track.
And there you have it. Another cool find and great add to the collection. I love it loud and I love it when I find stuff i didn’t expect to find. Especially European only releases!! I hope you enjoyed the walk through this single. Thanks for hanging around.

Funny how those Killers tracks got recycled as B-sides over and over and over.
I don’t have this and will steal it from you.

If any idiot can write a disco song, as Paul claims, why did he need two outside writers to help him with this? lol

Ha!! If I ever interview him, I will ask him.

This version of “I Was Made for Loving You” is an improvement. Then it has to be if it’s on the same record as my all time favourite KISS song.

That’s a nice little pick up. These more out of the way singles are the ones that really shine.

It is a great one. One I didn’t get right away when it came out. Last time I listened to it, I remembered how good it was.
