My Sunday Song – “Dad Vibes” by Limp Bizkit

For My Sunday Song #431, we are talking about the notoriously loved and hated band Limp Bizkit and their 2021 song “Dad Vibes”. The song is the first single from their album ‘Still Sucks’ which was released on October 31, 2021. The album was announced back in 2012 and with delay after delay with being dropped from the label, member changes, partying problems and the such, it became their ‘Chinese Democracy’. In July 2021, the band debuted “Dad Vibes” as the final song of the 2021 Lalapalooza set and 3 months later, the album dropped.

The song was written by Fred Durst, Sam Rivers, John Otto and Wes Borland and it is classic Limp Bizkit. Full of self-deprecating humor, the song is basically a parody of the band. We are 24 years past their debut in 1997 and now these guys are so much older and dads now. They are still wearing the pants that sag (even more so now that they older). Now, they aren’t just a band, they are a franchise and they are still cool whether you can live with them or not, they don’t care as they still have the swagger they always have had. They don’t give two fucks whether you like them or not and they are going to do their own thing. Heck, their tours are still drawing large crowds.

Musically, it has a killer beat, some drum loops that drive the song forward. Wes Borland’s riffs are killer and are as heavy as ever. Fred Durst spits out the lyrics in his same old cocky-ass style and you want to punch him in the face…and that my friends is the charm of this band. A great song to crank while driving down the road as I have my own dad vibes (I’m even older than these guys, but my pants don’t sag). What people miss from these guys that it is all in jest and fun…they are serious about their music, but they have fun with it too.

November 2023 Purchases – Vinyl & CDs

Welcome to monthly wrap-up of what 2 Loud 2 Old Music added to the collection and it was another good month. I will be honest, I don’t know if December is shaping up to be as good as this one and that is okay. I need a break. I will be in New York City and hope to hit a couple stores so there is still hope, but as far as what has already been ordered, not much. I know there is Christmas, but that list I gave my family was pretty light as I’d like a new laptop and that will drown out most everything else. For now, sit back and enjoy what we have this month.

The month started out with a sale at 2nd & Charles with a Buy 2 Get 2 Free sale on CDs. Well, you don’t have to tell me twice. My daughter and I hit up a different one then our normal haunt as I have picked that one clean and boy did that pay off. I picked up 20 CDs and 1 DVD as well. So technically, the first photo I bought, then the 2nd one was free.

And the DVD was for Robbie Williams’ TV concert show called “The Robbie Williams Show” and a review if forthcoming…

Friday New Releases – November 24, 2023

It is the after Thanksgiving in the States and it is known as Black Friday. Because of that, there are not many new releases unless you are being released on Record Store Day – Black Friday…that list is at the bottom of the regular album releases. And for the regular releases there is nothing for me, but for Black Friday Record Store Day I would like the Collective Soul and my daughter wants the Olivia Rodrigo one. I also wouldn’t mind getting the Limp Bizkit one on CD but don’t tell anyone. Let me know what you want to pick up this week or what we may have missed. Thanks and have a great weekend.

  • Take That – This Life – (EMI / Universal Music)
  • Busta Rhymes – BlockBusta – (Conglomerate Ent. / Epic Records)

September 2023 Purchases – Vinyl & CDs

Welcome to the monthly round-up as we go through the purchases here at 2 Loud 2 Old Music for September 2023. It was another good month for vinyl and CDs, but that was it. Nothing out of the ordinary this month like Cassettes, 8-Tracks or even books. Strictly vinyl and CDs which I won’t complain about because that is enough. The month started out with a couple new releases that came out at the end of August, but didn’t arrive until after the August post was done. I picked the new albums for both Eclipse and H.E.A.T. and both are great…

Then during Labor Day weekend, my wife and I had a kid free weekend and we went out to 2nd & Charles so she could look for books. I, of course, took advantage of the Buy 2 Get 2 Free in the used CD section where I picked up 10 CDs. Two of them were actually still sealed (Lifehouse and Halestorm)!! I picked up a handful of Live including their debut E.P., some Wallflowers and a great Pearl Jam live CD and as Jimmy Buffett passed away, I grabbed his greatest hits in memory of him.

August 2023 Purchases – Vinyl, CD’s & More

Another month comes to a close so it is time for another monthly wrap up of what landed in 2 Loud 2 Old Music’s collection this month and it was another decent month, if I do say so myself. It started off with a couple of new releases. First being the vinyl for the 2nd Mammoth WVH album and I like it as much as the first one…

And the second that item that came out the same time was the new album for Rick Springfield. 20 songs on one disc and it is classic Springfield and I have enjoyed it a lot as I do most of his albums.

September 2022 Purchases – Vinyl & CDs & More

Another month gone by which is good news because it means more Vinyl, CDs, books and even a DVD have been added the collection. And we are kicking this month off a very pleasant surprise from a good friend of 2 Loud 2 Old Music. Mr. Books himself, Aaron, from KeepsMeAlive.com has sent yet another care package. The man believes in giving! This time around we got 2 books and 2 CDs all the way from the Great White North. Be careful what you say in the comments on his site as you are bound to wind up with it. Aaron knows my love for Idol and I have made comments before about the other 3 items…and now I have them. Thanks Aaron…and yes, he left a little note as usual!!

Now to start the month out, during labor day weekend, 2nd & Charles had their buy 5 get 5 free sale and so I hit up the CDs section and stuck to the 5 and 5 rule. Here is the 5 I bought…

And the five I got for free…or vice versa, however you want to look at it…

June 2022 Purchases – Vinyl, CDs, Cassettes & More

Summer has been heating up and so did the purchases for this month. This month had some serious quality for me and at the same time some quantity as well. And the month came in with a bang as all my Def Leppard albums I ordered finally made it in. When I say “all”, I mean the new one and all the formats I ordered. I’m starting to like it too!

And it kept on going with a huge sale at 2nd & Charles having a buy 5 CDs get 5 CDs free and I took advantage of that discount. My daughter joined me and picked up some DVDs and CDs as the sale applied to those as well. First batch is all Kiss!!

And then a selection of great artists…

February 2022 Purchases – Vinyl & CDs

February is over so it is time for our monthly round-up of what 2 Loud 2 Old Music got their hands on this month and it was another banner month. It all started with a trip to the antique mart called Sleepy Poets. My daughter loves that place and I don’t mind because there are records and I found a couple good ones. One was the only early Stryper album I was missing and the other was one of my mother’s favorite bands Air Supply so I had to buy it. I miss her a lot so it will be something in my collection that when I am really, really missing her I can pull out and play.

Then the following week, my daughter wanted to hit more antique shops as she loves to find old vintage clothes at not a too ridiculous of a price. The first place we hit in Mathews said it was an antique place, but really it was a record store and now I have another great place to go buy albums!! Yeah me!! I found some great vinyl, CDs, singles and cassettes…they had it all. First are the albums, which are an early pressing of Mariah Carey’s debut on vinyl and a Billy Idol 12″ Single of Mony Mony.
