CMT Crossroads – Taylor Swift & Def Leppard (2009) – DVD Review (The Def Leppard Collection Series)

CMT (Country Music Television) had a great show called CMT Crossroads. The show would bring together two famous acts, one being a country artist and the other either Rock, Pop or whatever they felt would work together. One of those episodes that aired on November 7, 2008 brought together and a young rising country star named Taylor Swift and a band she grew up listening to thanks to her parents, Def Leppard. A dream come true for her and a strange match-up for me. But it was Leppard so I watched. And when the DVD was released, I bought it.

The DVD came out on June 16, 2009 and was exclusive to Wal-Mart stores here in the States. The DVD contained the entire show that was broadcast as well as some bonus material. That bonus material was three bonus songs that were performed and not aired. You also get a bunch of interviews. In total, you get 75 minutes of Country Rock Crossover. Honestly, I wish there was a CD for the show, I’d like that in the collection. Now, was the show good? Let’s find out.

The show kicks off with “Photograph” from Def Leppard and a good one to start as it is one of their most famous songs. Phil Collen breaks out that famous riff while fully dressed and still some hair; and Taylor sings the first verse. Dang, she is so young here. She has a great voice, but she can’t muster the power needed for this song but she can hit some of those notes Joe can’t. Joe Elliott takes on the second version and that is they way this song should be sung. They share the choruses. The band is all the Lep folks and even Taylor’s band so we get two drummers and numerous guitarists and bass players. I even see a keyboard player in the background there. The bands sound awesome and they do play the song to perfection. Who knew it would actually work so well.

Friday New Releases – July 7, 2023

Welcome to July! It’s been waiting for you! Our first big release of the month doesn’t get much bigger than this. The new Taylor Version for the album ‘Speak Now’ is out this week so does it really matter what else is out this week as it will blow the doors off the competition! Of course it matter what else there is or why do these posts. I’m sure my kids will get Taylor, but I’m more interested in Nita Strauss’ new album as well as the latests from Degreed. Outside of that, we will see what kind of time I have. Let me know what you want to here this week or what we may have missed. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a great weekend.

June 2023 Purchases – Vinyl, CDs & More…

Welcome to another monthly round-up of what we obtained here at 2 Loud 2 Old Music. It was another big month, but not quite like last month. The month started off with another Buy 5 Get 5 deal and ended with a trip to Los Angeles so it was a fun month here at the site.

First up was the 2nd & Charles Buy 5 Get 5 Free on Used CDs, so of course, I took advantage of that deal. Not a bad haul I must say…

And of course, we did get some new releases this month including Extreme, Neal Schon and my personal favorite, The Defiants!! I went the cheaper route of CDs for these mainly because Neal’s isn’t on vinyl and The Defiants isn’t available until September (pre-ordered).

Friday New Releases – October 21, 2022

Happy Friday! We have another batch of over 40 releases for you this week, but will any of them be talked about more than Taylor Swift’s new one? Probably not. However, that doesn’t mean she has the only important release because there is another one I will listen to probably more than hers. Yes, I will listen to hers as my girls are fans and I won’t be able to escape it. Let me know what you want to hear this week and what we may have missed. Thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!\

  • 61wEzfjZeGL._AC_UY436_FMwebp_QL65_  Taylor Swift – Midnights – (Taylor Swift): She’s BACK!!! Taylor is knocking out albums faster than Aaron Judge was hitting homeruns. This one is supposed to be about dreams or nightmares she has had…or something like that. All I know are my kids are excited. And Taylor will sell more albums than anyone and she hasn’t even released one single for this album yet…as a result, no video to show. If I get up in this morning and there is one, I will update.

  • 91zottV8HJL._AC_UY436_FMwebp_QL65_  Stryper – The Final Battle – (Frontiers Records): Micheal Sweet and company are back again. Talk about putting out a lot of albums. Michael Sweet is a freaking machine. And I think the quality has been there so I am on board for another one. Bring it Mr. Sweet!!

May 2022 Purchases – Vinyl & CD’s

Another month down and therefore it is time to review the purchases made this month at 2 Loud 2 Old Music. And I think it was a pretty good haul. We bought some stuff online, we hit a local record store and we had a record show this month. And we will kick it off with the brand new album by Jeff Scott Soto which came out on May 6th. It is called ‘Complicated’ and we won’t be getting to review this one for a long time as we are only 20+ albums into the 70 album series. For now, take a peek…

Then I have some research I need to do for a friend of Jeff Scott Soto. I have a lot of homework to do on Jason Bieler of Saigon Kick (notice the three Rock Candy Editions) and his new band Jason Bieler and the Baron Von Bielski Orchestra plus others. Hmmm…now why would I be doing homework…I guess you will soon find out…

Friday New Releases – November 12, 2021

Happy Friday!! Another week gone by and only 6 more Fridays until Christmas!! Can you believe it? There are a bunch here for you to decide if you want to add some things to your Christmas List. You have a wide variety so hopefully there is something for everyone. I only have a couple I am really interested and they are in Bold. Let me know what you want to hear or maybe what we may have missed so everyone knows about it that stops by and checks out the list. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful and exciting weekend.

  • 81Q5sUh0asL._AC_UY436_FMwebp_QL65_  Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars & Anderson .Paak) – An Evening with Silk Sonic – (Aftermath Entertainment / Atlantic): First up for me is Silk Sonic. You get the both Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak in one band and let me tell you it doesn’t get any smoother than that!! I really loved the first single “Leave the Door Open” and it has made me so excited for this release!! This will get my weekend going.
  • 71HVud5EPQL._AC_UY436_FMwebp_QL65_  Taylor Swift – Red (Taylor’s Version) – (Republic Records): Say what you will about her, but she did shake up radio and music in general. Hell, she is one of the only people out there that actually sells massive amounts of physical product. My kids and I decided we would collect these “Taylor Versions” of her re-recordings as there is an abundance of music from the Vault to come with each release. This is her 2nd re-recording and actually a favorite album of the family so we will be grabbing this one.

August 2021 Purchases – Vinyl & CDs

Wow, how time has flown. Summer is winding down, school is back in session and we had a big month here at the 2 Loud 2 Old Music home life. Our oldest daughter turned 18 and moved off to college the very next day. A very happy and sad time in our life. And my youngest became a freshman herself in High School. Man, they grow up so fast. And usually when I have these big moments that make me happy and yet sad, I drown that sad part in purchases and I have to say, there were a few this month and so we might as well get to it…

To start it off, the first album on the list this month is one that came out on July 30th, but I didn’t get the album in time for the July post so it kicks off this month’s post. The brand new album by Needtobreathe called “Into the Mystery” and my copy is CD. I also have the Vinyl on order but due to delays we won’t see that until November which is why I have the CD now.

Then my daughter and I were out and I picked up a few random items. First was bought at Manifest Disc in the used CD section and was something I have already, but didn’t. It was a limited deluxe edition CD with a 64 page mini-magazine of Kiss’ Monster. I have this one on vinyl, but this was too cheap and cool to pass up.

Friday New Releases – April 9, 2021

Happy Friday, thankfully we made it through another week. How do I know that you made it? Well, if you didn’t, you wouldn’t be reading this right now would you. As your reward, we have a list of new albums coming out today and one I am really excited about and one I am interested in hearing for comparison purposes (I explain more later). My choices are highlighted in Blue. There are a ton of releases so hopefully there is something for you. Let me know what you’d like to hear and let me know what I might’ve missed so everyone can know. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

  • 71TI7x3BK4L._SX522_  Cheap Trick – In Another World – (BMG Rights Mgmt): Cheap Trick is still going strong and they are bringing us their 20th Studio Album. 20th!!! Wow!! That is incredible. After the amazing album ‘We’re All Alright!’, I am super excited to hear this follow-up. I am sure it will be great as they have really seemed to find a new groove and are putting out some solid stuff. This is why they might be one of the greatest American Bands of all time!! And because of that they will be the next band that gets a Series on this site. Now it won’t be for maybe 6 months, but it is coming!!! Get Ready!!!
  • 91r1uwFe1KL._SX522_  Taylor Swift – Fearless (Taylor’s Version) – (Republic Records): As you probably know, Taylor has had major legal issues with her former label and she doesn’t own the rights to here early studio albums. So to solve that problem, she is faithfully recreating each and every album. The first up is her second album, ‘Fearless’, and she is calling them ‘Taylor’s Version’. I have to say, I am interested to hear this and compare it to the original to see how she does. She’s not as young as she was, but she still has the voice, so let’s see.
